Engineering Hub

Capabilities:
Engineering Hub is a distributed lean platform in Shell P&T to monitor the performance of equipment in operating units which allows executing complex engineering calculations, data reconciliation, model simulationscontinuously on a requirement basis non interactively. It provides an integrated framework for complex engineering models and calculations to allow experts and discipline staff who collaborate with site engineers to:
  • Enable solutions of complex/multi-discipline problems.
  • Have a common platform to run fundamental problems.
  • Advise the business to act on process and equipment anomalies.
Common access to data sources and modelling tools is provided with a uniform interface for end-users. Automatic execution with a standardized data extraction and pre-processing provides continuous results for experts. Efficiency has been increased because experts and engineers can focus on business problems without losing time to manage single applications and/or manual executions.

Use Cases:

Hydrocracker Monitoring

Optimize operations, improve performance, and maximize valuable stream yields in refining equipment. This is achieved using HYSTAR software, which predicts product properties, calculates front-end and tail-end properties, and provides insights for various purposes, including performance monitoring, simulation, training, and planning.

Heat Exchanger Monitoring

Enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve turnaround planning in the oil and gas industry by identifying fouling issues, optimizing maintenance schedules, and ensuring reliable heat transfer through advanced software analysis and performance insights.

Furnaces/Heaters Monitoring

Ensure safe and efficient operation of process furnaces and heaters in the oil and gas industry. This involves maintaining environmental compliance, optimizing efficiency, and identifying opportunities for improvement through key parameter calculations and insights provided by integrated software modules like Furdes and ARPM.

Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit Monitoring

Optimize operations, enhance conversion efficiency, and maximize valuable petroleum product yields using the Shell Advanced and Rigorous Cat-cracking Model.

Distillation Column Monitoring

Automated monitoring of distillation towers using high-fidelity engineering models to proactively address operational performance issues, enhance troubleshooting, and achieve real-time performance improvement.
